College Application Deadlines: Missed Opportunity Turns Golden

Early Action. Early Decision. Regular Decision. Three phrases very familiar to high school seniors that all share at least one thing in common: deadlines. All three are types of deadlines for when applications for college admission are due. From mid-November through mid-January, the deadlines are here and gone in the blink of an eye, with priority given to students who apply early. The up sides are great: reduced stress of looming deadlines, and then the early notifications of application status. It’s great to have the most intense parts of the process done and then knowing well before most students have stopped worrying, much less completed all the documentation, essays, and interviews.

For students who haven’t been able to capitalize on the opportunity, the window begins to close fast, and it’s shut before they know it. It’s really difficult to get any desired (or required) classes or even admission to the desired schools of choice. Seems like a dead end, but all is not lost.

Community college offers students very real chances to turn missed and lost opportunity into golden opportunity. The courses are top notch. Class sizes are smaller. Costs are often far less. Whether students seek to get credentialed or certified in a profession, or continue their pursuit of four-year and advanced degrees, community colleges offer premium educational experiences to prepare them for the rigors of achieving their dreams.

“But I wanted to go away to a school, live on a beautiful campus away from home…”

Little known fact: there are colleges in the California Community College system with on-campus housing – just like at larger four-year colleges and universities. These schools excel at affording students the best of both worlds: the full college experience and all the financial and academic advantages of community college.

And the beautiful campus part? This is California we’re talking about! Nestled in the beautiful hills and trees of Sonora, California, Columbia College is one of the most scenic campuses you’ll find. Combine their state-of-the art facilities for studies in specialties in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Forestry, Fire Technology, and Automotive Technology, with great, affordable on-campus housing provided by California Student Housing with flexible payment options, that missed opportunity just turned golden.
